Low Voltage Class 2 Transformers
Foster’s Low Voltage Class 2 Transformers are a value oriented series targeted for low power applications. Available VA ratings include 5 VA, 20 VA, and 50 VA. 5 VA and 20 VA sizes are also available as printed circuit board transformers.
All models in this series are UL and C-UL Recognized and feature Class 130 (B) Insulation systems for long life. These transformers are recognized as Class 2 Inherently Limited Devices which means they may be used without additional overload protection. This provides additional savings when compared with General Purpose or Not Inherently Limited Class 2 Devices which must be used in conjunction with a fuse or circuit breaker. 5 VA models are self fusing while the 20 VA and 50 VA models incorporate a one shot thermal fuse to limit temperatures in the event of a short circuit or extended overload condition.
This series is ideal for low power control applications, low voltage lighting, appliance controls, etc.
Designed for use in Appliance, Vending, HVAC, Door Openers, and other applications requiring a Class 2 Control Transformer. Ideally suited for operating low voltage halogen lamps, fan motors, and controls.

SURVIVORTM Class 2 Transformers
Foster’s trademark series Class 2 transformers. This series features industry exclusive Inherently Limited Designs in 75 VA and 100 VA ratings. All models from 40 VA through 100 VA are classified as Inherently Limited. In addition, Foster’s SURVIVOR™ series incorporate resettable thermal protectors on the secondary windings to prevent damage from overloading or short circuiting the output. 75 VA and 100 VA models also feature staggered one shot thermal protectors on the primary windings to insure fail safe operation should the resettable protector fail, the transformer be connected to the wrong line voltage, or suffer other catastrophic failure due to a lighting hit or physical damage.
All models are UL and C-UL Recognized to UL 5085-3 (UL 1585) and CSA C22.2 No. 66.1 and feature UL Class 130 (B) Insulation systems for long life. We also offer TUV Certification to EN 61558-1 and EN 61558-2-6 on several of our 75 VA models including a dual primary (115/230 V) design suitable for worldwide use.
This series is suited for higher VA control applications, low voltage lighting, motor control, LED lighting when used with a rectifier, or anywhere limited access would make it difficult to replace a failed transformer, replace a fuse or reset a circuit breaker.

SURVIVORTM CT Class 2 Transformer
Foster’s SURVIVOR™ CT Class 2 transformers add a new dimension to the industry’s most innovative series of Class 2 transformers. Like their namesake, all models in this series meet the stringent requirements for an Inherently Limited Class 2 Power Source. This means that they can be used without additional circuit protection and thanks to their resettable thermal protectors are guarded against damage from accidental overload or short circuit.
The SURVIVOR™ CT adds a 12 V tap to the secondary winding providing the ability to operate 12 or 24 volt controls from a single transformer. For 12 V applications where the load can be split between each half of the secondary winding, a full 100 VA of 12 V power becomes available when using a 100 VA transformer. With a single 12 V output, Class 2 limits are a maximum of 5 A of current or 60 VA.

Printed Circuit (PC) Mount Class 2 Transformers
Foster offers a standard line of printed circuit board mountable Inherently Limited Class 2 transformers in ratings from 5 VA to 20 VA. Due to their small size, these transformers are well suited for direct mounting to a printed circuit board. Optional pin configurations and footprints are available.
If additional power is required for your application, we recommend using one of our Low Voltage Class 2, SURVIVOR™, or SURVIVOR CT™ transformers in conjunction with a pin and socket type connector that can be mated to a matching connector on the printed circuit board.
Designed for use in Appliances, Vending Machines, HVAC Equipment, Test Equipment, Door Openers, Industrial and Motor Controls or any application where a board mounted Class 2 Control Transformer is an advantage.
